A Life Remembered
Yesterday, May 6, 2003, would have been Jan's 47th birthday. Instead, she died 223 days ago, alone and sick, her body broken. Today, we are stopping to remember Jan and to think about what her life and death mean to us: past, present, and future.
We've asked ourselves so many times, "How could it happen to her?", "Why did she let it happen?", "She was a good kid, what went wrong?", "How could I have made a difference?", "What should I have done (differently)?"
While we still have no solid answers, we have come to believe some things more clearly in the months since Jan's death.
